VICTORIA IS GOING TO BE THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE COG EXECUTIVE BOARD.
SO, IT'S A LOT OF FUN WHEN YOU CAN WORK WITH GREAT, GREAT PEOPLE.
THE MAYOR ASKED ME WHAT WAS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO DO YOU AND YOUR PUBLIC SERVICE CAREER, AND I HONESTLY CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ALL THAT BAD.
THERE WERE BETTER DAYS, BUT I ALWAYS SAY EVERY DAY WAS A GOOD DAY.
SOME WERE JUST BETTER THAN OTHERS. AND CERTAINLY YOU HAD SOME CHALLENGES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
BUT AT THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE TO GET TO MEET SO, SO MANY PEOPLE AND THESE FOLKS WHO WILL STAND FOR ELECTION AND SERVE NOT ALWAYS FULLY APPRECIATED FOR SOME OF THE DECISIONS THAT THEY MAKE.

AND THAT WAS KIND OF A SCARY WORD. AND, AND SOME GRANT WRITERS AND, AND JUST HAVE A CONVERSATION BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO START TRYING TO LOOK FOR FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SOME THINGS BECAUSE THE STATE IS TAKING AWAY VARIOUS WAYS THAT THE CITIES CAN RAISE MONEY TO DO THE THINGS AROUND HERE.
ONE OF THE THINGS THEY TALKED ABOUT WAS EARMARKS.
THAT ALSO HAS A BAD RAP BECAUSE PEOPLE THINK, YOU KNOW, IT'S PORK AND SPENDING AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
AND THAT'S TRUE. I MEAN, THERE ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT THAT.
BUT WHAT IT ALSO INCLUDES IS YOUR LOCAL STREETS, POLICE AND FIRE VEHICLES, THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND THEN 2005, WE SIGNED THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR TARRANT COUNTY TO PERFORM ALL THE PERMITTING AND INSPECTIONS, AND THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING OKAY. AND THEN IN 2024, WE HAD THE TCEQ TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY DID AN AUDIT IN COMBINATION WITH TARRANT COUNTY AND BURLESON.
AND THEY HAVE NEW REGULATIONS FOR REPORTING. AND OUR AUDIT WAS FINE.

SO BACK IN JANUARY 2023, YOU AGREED AND AUTHORIZED A SCOPE FOR THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF THE BUILDING.
OVER THE FOLLOWING MONTHS, WE CAME BACK TO COUNCIL.
WE MADE SOME AMENDMENTS TO THE TO THE DESIGN.
WE MADE SOME CHANGES BACK IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR WE PRESENTED YOU THE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS, WHICH INCLUDED THIS SITE LAYOUT AS WELL AS SOME RENDERINGS OF WHAT THE NEW BUILDING WOULD LOOK LIKE AT THAT MEETING.
COUNCIL APPROVED A TOTAL AMENDED PROJECT BUDGET OF $44 MILLION FOR THE ENTIRE PROJECT.
AND SO YOU ASKED US TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THAT, WITH THAT NEW BUDGET.
INCLUDED IN THAT BUDGET WAS THE DESIGN OF THE DESIGN SERVICES FOR THAT BUILDING.
SO THE DESIGN CONTRACT IS BASED ON 80% OF THE COST OF THE PROJECT FOR THE ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES, PLUS ANY SUPPLEMENTAL COSTS. SO THE TABLE BELOW SHOWS ORIGINALLY WHAT THE CONTRACT WAS BASED ON A $23 MILLION CONSTRUCTION COST, WITH DESIGN SERVICES ABOUT 1.8 MILLION 7.2, AND SUPPLEMENTAL SERVICES FOR THAT $2.5 MILLION TOTAL CONTRACT,

I'M GOING TO START BY GIVING A QUICK UPDATE ON THE CAPITAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AND THE PROGRESS WE'RE MAKING, AND THEN DIVE INTO UPDATES ON INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS.
SO QUICK UPDATE ON THE CAPITAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
AS YOU KNOW, THE DEPARTMENT WAS CREATED IN 2024.
AND WE ARE CREATED TO DELIVER THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT OR CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR THE CITY OF BURLESON.
WE ARE FOCUSING ON THE DELIVERY OF THOSE PROJECTS.
THAT IS TWO POSITIONS OUT OF THE TOTAL OF 12 FTES.
AND JUST A QUICK UPDATE ON SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE ROUGHLY THREE MONTHS NOW.
AND SO WE ARE PUTTING IN PLACE A NUMBER OF THINGS TO DO THAT.
WE'RE UTILIZING SOME OF THE EXISTING SYSTEMS, LIKE OUR E BUILDER SOFTWARE AND OTHER SYSTEMS TO TRACK OUR PROJECTS, BUT WE WANT TO UTILIZE THEM MORE AND BE MORE EFFICIENT.
WITH THAT, WE ALSO NEED TO CLEARLY DEFINE SCOPE, SCHEDULE, AND BUDGET.
HERE'S A QUICK LOOK AT OUR ORG CHART FOR THE DEPARTMENT.
AS I MENTIONED, WE HAVE 12 FTES AND WE'RE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR TWO OF THEM.
THE LEFT-HAND SIDE IS OUR INSPECTION TEAM. THEY SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION FOR NOT ONLY OUR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, BUT ALSO FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS THAT ARE PERFORMING WORK WITHIN THE RIGHT OF WAY.
WE HAVE OUR PROJECT COORDINATION TEAM, AND THEN WE HAVE OUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM.
AND THEY OVERSEE THE PROJECTS FROM BEGINNING ALL THE WAY THROUGH CONSTRUCTION.
SO TO GIVE A QUICK UPDATE ON THE CIP, THIS IS JUST A SNAPSHOT OF THE CURRENT APPROVED FIVE YEAR CIP.
SO THIS JUST SHOWS THE FUND BREAKDOWN. WE'RE NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH EACH LINE ITEM, BUT A QUICK, FUN BREAKDOWN THERE. AND YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE LARGER DOLLAR AMOUNTS ARE MADE UP BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS THERE.

THE POLICE HEADQUARTER EXPANSION, THE INDUSTRIAL BOULEVARD PUMP STATION EXPANSION, A NEW ARMY PROJECT THAT PUBLIC WORKS IS OVERSEEING.OF THOSE PROJECTS WITHIN THE CIP, WE HAVE 42 ACTIVE PROJECTS CURRENTLY.
YOU CAN SEE THE BULK OF THOSE FALL IN THE STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT TYPE AT 60%.
AND SECOND IS OUR WATER AND SEWER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS AT 26%.
AND THEN WE HAVE A COUPLE OF DRAINAGE PROJECTS AS WELL.
SO THAT'S A QUICK OVERVIEW OF OUR PROGRAM. I HAVE A SLIDE FOR EACH PROJECT, BUT FOR THE SAKE OF TIME, I'M GOING TO GO THROUGH THEM QUICKLY AND HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE KEY PROJECTS WITH KEY HIGHLIGHTS.
BUT FEEL FREE TO STOP ME ALONG THE WAY IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
SO WE HAVE OUR QUIET ZONE PROJECT. THIS IS ONE OF MANY PHASES THAT THE CITY HAS IMPLEMENTED, BUT WE ARE WORKING WITH THE RAILROAD AND IN THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN STAGES TO MOVE THIS PROJECT FORWARD.
OUR STATE HIGHWAY 174 WIDENING THIS IS FROM ELK TO WICKER HILL.
THIS IS A PROJECT THAT WE ARE COORDINATING WITH TXDOT ON.
BUT THIS ONE IS MOVING FORWARD AND WRAPPING UP DESIGN.
AND TXDOT WILL BE LEADING THE CONSTRUCTION EFFORTS ON THIS PROJECT.
AND IT'S SCHEDULED TO MOVE INTO CONSTRUCTION IN SPRING OF 26.
CURRENTLY. NEXT IS ALSBURY AND JOHN JONES. THIS INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT MUCH NEEDED FOR SAFETY AND OPERATIONS IN THE INTERSECTION. THIS ONE WE'RE ACTUALLY CURRENTLY BIDDING THIS PROJECT AND IT IS SCHEDULED TO OPEN BIDS IN EARLY APRIL.
SO EXCITING. WE'LL HAVE A CONTRACT BEFORE COUNCIL VERY SOON.
I'M SURE EVERYBODY IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS ONE AND SEEING THE PROGRESS.
AT WHAT POINT ARE THEY GOING TO REOPEN THE STREET? WE ARE WORKING WITH THE CONTRACTOR. WE'RE HOPING IN APRIL, WE'RE HOPING TO HAVE THAT OPEN.
BUT I BELIEVE NEXT MONTH IS WHAT'S SCHEDULED.

BLUEBIRDS MEADOW BLUEBIRD MEADOWS DRAINAGE PROJECT.
SO WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IF WE HAVE SUCCESSFUL BIDS ON THIS ONE.
HOOPER BUSINESS PARK RETENTION AND ROADWAY DESIGN.
THIS IS YOU CAN SEE THE SCHEMATIC THERE. THIS IS A PROJECT THAT'S IN DESIGN.
SO, THIS ONE'S MOVING FORWARD. SCHEDULED TO WRAP UP DESIGN LATER THIS YEAR.

WE'RE HOPEFUL TO WRAP UP THE DESIGN LATER THIS SPRING.
SO WE HAVE A WEST SIDE BUSINESS PARK LIFT STATION THAT'S CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AS WELL.
THIS IS NEAR THE HOOPER BUSINESS PARK PROJECT THAT I MENTIONED A LITTLE BIT AGO.
WE HAVE OUR POLICE HEADQUARTER EXPANSION PROJECT.
WE'VE HAD MULTIPLE ITEMS RECENTLY WITH UPDATES ON THIS ONE.
THIS ONE IS PROGRESSING AND WE'RE HOPEFUL FOR INITIAL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY THIS SUMMER.
SO, YOU CAN SEE THERE AN UPDATE MOVING FORWARD AND UPDATED PROJECT COSTS ON THAT ONE.
OUR FIRE STATION ONE RENOVATION. THIS ONE IS IN CONSTRUCTION AND MOVING FORWARD.
IT IS SCHEDULED TO BE COMPLETE LATER THIS YEAR, FALL 2025.
SO THINGS ARE PROGRESSING NICELY. AND THIS IS TIED TO SOME OTHER WORK.
SO IT'S IMPORTANT WE STAY ON SCHEDULE FOR THIS ONE.
I BELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR IS MAKING GOOD PROGRESS AND STAYING ON SCHEDULE.
ALSBURY PHASE TWO. THIS PROJECT IS A CONNECTION FROM THE HULIN.
HULIN ALSBURY ROUNDABOUT TO COUNTY ROAD 1020.
I TALKED ABOUT THIS PHASE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN I PROVIDED AN UPDATE ON PHASE THREE.
WE'RE PLANNING ON WRAPPING UP THE DESIGN THIS SPRING, LATE SPRING AND WORKING THROUGH SOME UTILITY COORDINATION TO GET THIS ONE ACROSS THE FINISH LINE AND INTO CONSTRUCTION. EXCUSE ME, I'VE HAD SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS FROM THE PUBLIC ON THAT ONE. THE WORKING ON THE RAILROAD. THAT LANE RIGHT NOW.
ONCE YOU GET THAT ONE SIDE COMPLETED WHERE YOU CAN COME INTO TOWN, YOU'RE GOING TO SHUT THAT SIDE.
AFTER THAT, AFTER YOU GET BOTH LANES DONE, YOU'RE GOING TO WAIT ON THE RAILROAD. AND SOMEBODY SAID ABOUT SIX MONTHS AND THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THAT AREA IS UNDERNEATH THAT BRIDGE WITH HIGH WATER. I DON'T KNOW HOW FAR THEY CAN GO ALL THE WAY TOWARDS JOSHUA, BUT THAT'S NOT VERY GOOD FOR PEOPLE THAT WORK IN BURLESON YOU HAD ANY PLANS ON WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT ROAD IS CLOSED GOING UNDERNEATH THAT BRIDGE, WHICH IT DOES PERIODICALLY? YEAH, WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THAT A LOT RECENTLY BECAUSE WE'VE HAD SOME RESIDENTS REACH OUT TO US WITH CONCERNS.
YEAH. ME TOO. YOU KNOW, WHEN THERE'S A, WHEN THERE'S A CLOSURE UNEXPECTEDLY BECAUSE OF A RAIN EVENT, THEY DON'T REALLY HAVE A GOOD PATH AROUND THAT CLOSURE.
AND SO WE ARE LOOKING AT ALTERNATE ROUTES. OKAY.
IF WE WERE TO IMPLEMENT AN ALTERNATE DETOUR ROUTE, LIKE YOU SAID, THERE'S NOT REALLY A GOOD ONE.
IT WOULD PUT THEM MUCH FURTHER OUT OF THE WAY.
AND WE HAVE TO CLOSE THAT HIGH WATER OR LOW WATER CROSSING.
SO WE ARE LOOKING AT THAT AND AWARE OF THE ISSUE.
IT DEFINITELY NEEDS SOME ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE AT A MINIMUM.
ALL RIGHT. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET REBUILDS FY 22.

THIS IS A THIS IS AN OLDER PROJECT THAT'S BEEN IN CONSTRUCTION FOR SOME TIME.AND WE ARE COORDINATING WITH THE RAILROAD AND WE HAVE AN ACTIVE PERMIT.
WE JUST GOT AN AGREEMENT WITH THE RAILROAD. SO WE ARE WE ARE MOVING FORWARD THIS SUMMER, LATE SPRING, EARLY SUMMER TO COMPLETE THIS IMPROVEMENT. SO IT IS LOOKING POSITIVE WITH THE RAILROAD COORDINATION.
NEXT IS OUR SIDEWALK PROGRAM. ONE OF OUR SEGMENTS IS ON VAUGHN DRIVE.
THIS IS NEAR THE BRICK COMING OFF OF SUMMER CREST.
AND THIS PROJECT IS IN DESIGN, BUT REALLY GETTING CLOSE TO MOVING INTO THE CONSTRUCTION.
WE'RE ANTICIPATING WRAPPING UP DESIGN THIS SUMMER AND BEING ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH CONSTRUCTION.
ALSBURY. ALSBURY. PHASE THREE PROVIDED COUNCIL AN UPDATE ON THIS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, AND REALLY, JUST REALLY KICKING OFF THE DESIGN AND MOVING FORWARD ON THIS PHASE IN ORDER TO PURSUE FUTURE FEDERAL FUNDING ON THE PROJECT AND ALSBURY PHASE ONE B. THIS IS THE SEGMENT THAT COUNCIL MEMBER WAS ASKING ABOUT.
THIS ONE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND WE HAVE THE WESTBOUND TRAFFIC CLOSED CURRENTLY.
AND THIS IS BEING DETOURED DOWN CANDLER TO HULEN.
AND IT DOES EXPERIENCE SOME, SOME CLOSURES AT THE LOW WATER CROSSING THERE ON HULEN.
SO WE ARE LOOKING AT THAT. THIS ONE IS PROGRESSING NICELY.
UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS SOME WORK AT THE RAILROAD THAT IS GOING TO REQUIRE FULL CLOSURE THERE, THOUGH. BECAUSE THE RAILROAD, THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO COMPLETE THEIR WORK REPLACING THE CROSSING PANELS AND EXTENDING THAT CROSSING FOR THE WIDENING.
SO WE ARE COORDINATING WITH THEM, AND WE DO HAVE AN ACTIVE AGREEMENT FOR THEM TO COMPLETE THEIR WORK, AND WE'RE ON PACE TO GET THEM OUT THERE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.
AND THEN THEY'LL BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THAT WORK WITHIN THAT CLOSURE. THAT FULL CLOSURE WINDOW.
AND THEN WE HAVE RENFRO AND JOHNSON PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS.
THIS IS ANOTHER SIDEWALK PROJECT THAT'S PROPOSED NEAR OLD TOWN.
AND THIS IS CURRENTLY IN DESIGN SCHEDULED TO WRAP UP DESIGN IN THIS SUMMER.
AND THEN WE'LL BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH CONSTRUCTION. WE HAVE OUR HULEN STREET WIDENING PROJECT.
THIS IS ANOTHER ONE I PROVIDED AN UPDATE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, BUT WE ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH DESIGN, COORDINATING WITH OUR CONSULTANTS TO UPDATE THOSE ENGINEERS ESTIMATES AND REALLY TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ONE AND PROVIDE AN UPDATE TO COUNCIL IN THE COMING MONTHS AS WE START TALKING ABOUT THE CIP. VILLAGE CREEK PARKWAY EXPANSION.
THIS IS A PROJECT THAT IS IN COORDINATION WITH TARRANT COUNTY.
THEY ARE FUNDING 50% OF THIS PROJECT IN CONSTRUCTION.
SO WE'RE ON TRACK FOR POSSIBLY A SUMMER BIDDING ON THIS PROJECT.
WE ONLY HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF PAVING LEFT IN THE VARIOUS STREET SEGMENTS YOU HAVE THERE.
I BELIEVE ON NORTH WILLOW CIRCLE THERE IS SOME WORK THAT'S UNDER THIS CONTRACT ON RENFRO, AND I KNOW THERE MAY BE SOME QUESTIONS ON THE TRAFFIC CONTROL SINCE THAT PAVING WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
WE'RE HOPING THAT THAT WILL BE THIS WEEK SOMETIME.
THEN WE HAVE OUR ANOTHER SIDEWALK PROJECT. THIS IS A PLEASANT MANNER, A STRETCH THAT'S CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND SCHEDULED TO BE COMPLETE LATER THIS SPRING. ANOTHER SIDEWALK PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
A PORTION OF SIDEWALK ON ELK DRIVE, HILLSIDE WITH A ROUNDABOUT AND OVER TO JOHN JONES.
THIS PROJECT WILL BE BROKEN INTO MULTIPLE PHASES.
WE ARE WORKING ON THE DESIGN FOR ELK, WHICH IS MOVING FORWARD BY THIS SUMMER.

IT'S IN CONSTRUCTION AND PROGRESSING NICELY ON SCHEDULE FOR LATER SPRING.
WE HAVE OUR TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT HIDDEN CREEK AND GARDENS.
THIS ONE IS ALSO IN CONSTRUCTION AND ON TRACK FOR A SPRING 2025 COMPLETION.
WE HAVE SOME CONCRETE THAT NEEDS TO BE POURED AND SOME ADDITIONAL SIGNAL WORK THAT'S NEEDED, BUT THIS ONE IS ON TRACK. OUR INDUSTRIAL PUMP STATION.
THIS IS ONE OF THE LARGE DOLLAR AMOUNTS THAT YOU SEE IN THE CIP FOR THIS YEAR.
WE HAVE A WILLOW CREEK WATER LINE PROJECT. THIS IS TOWARDS THE TAIL END OF DESIGN AS WELL.
SO WE'RE COORDINATING WITH FORT WORTH ON THIS, THIS IMPROVEMENT.
THEN THIS THIS PROJECT IS ONE THAT'S JUST GETTING KICKED OFF.
IT'S ON OUR SECONDARY PRESSURE PLANE, AND WE ARE INSTALLING THESE WATER MAINS TO LOOP THE WATER MAINS IN THE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, IT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL PRESSURE FLOWS AND IT HELPS WITH FIRE FLOWS IN THE AREA.
AND SO THIS IS ONE THAT WE, WE SPOKE ABOUT A FEW WEEKS AGO REGARDING PRESSURES.
IT'S NOT GOING TO INCREASE THE PRESSURES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD DRASTICALLY, BUT IT IS GOING TO MAKE A MORE CONSISTENT. AND IT'S GOING TO CLOSE THE LOOP ON THE WATER SYSTEM TO MAKE IT MORE CONSISTENT. WE HAVE OUR SUMMER CREST REHAB PROJECT.
THIS ONE IS CURRENTLY IN CONSTRUCTION AND IT IS ON TRACK FOR A LATE SPRING COMPLETION OR EARLY SUMMER, SO WE'RE WORKING TO WRAP UP THE IMPROVEMENTS AND GET THIS ONE READY TO PAVE.
THERE IS SOME ADDITIONAL WORK NORTH OF THIS, THE CURRENT CLOSURE, AND WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO WORK TO GET THIS ONE WRAPPED UP LATER THIS SPRING. THE NEXT TWO PROJECTS ARE THERE ARE THEIR PARALLEL SEWER MAINS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL CAPACITY IN THE SEWER SYSTEM.
AND SO THIS ONE YOU SEE HERE, TOWN CREEK BASIN PARALLEL, AND THEN THE NEXT ONE NEAR VILLAGE CREEK.
WE HAVE A LIFT STATION. LIFT STATION? REHAB PROJECT THAT'S UNDERWAY.
WE BID IT ONE TIME, AND UNFORTUNATELY, WE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL.
THE BIDS CAME IN REALLY HIGH BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE PROJECT.
AND HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE SUCCESSFUL AND ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE REHAB PROJECT.
AND THEN WE HAVE OUR FY 23 SEWER AND WATER REHAB PROJECT.
THIS ONE IS TOWARDS THE TAIL END OF CONSTRUCTION AS WELL.
AND WRAPPING UP THIS ONE PROVIDED NOT ONLY MUCH NEEDED SEWER AND WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS, BUT ALSO ALLOWED US TO REHAB A LOT OF THE STREETS IN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS. SO VERY SUCCESSFUL PROJECT AND WE I BELIEVE WE ONLY HAVE 1 OR 2 SEGMENTS LEFT TO PAVE AND THIS ONE WILL BE COMPLETE.
AND I BELIEVE THIS IS THE LAST THIS IS A SEWER EROSION CONTROL PROJECT THAT IS IN THE DESIGN PHASE.

BUT I DON'T KNOW WHETHER WE HAVE ANY FINANCING METHODS BY WHICH WE COULD GET OURSELVES INVOLVED IN SOMETHING LIKE THAT, BUT A FACELIFT OF THAT AREA IS SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T APPEAR TO ME, IS ON ANYBODY'S AGENDA AS FAR AS PRIVATE INVESTMENT IS CONCERNED.
BUT IT'S STILL, BY AND LARGE, LOOKS LIKE IT DID 50 YEARS AGO.
AND IT'S NOT REALLY GETTING ANY BETTER. SO I'D LIKE FOR STAFF TO TAKE A BROADER APPROACH, SEE IF WE HAVE ANY IDEAS? IF WE COULD CREATE A TIFF IN THIS AREA, IF WE COULD DO ANYTHING TO CAPTURE SOME FUNDS THAT COULD BE USED TO FACELIFT THAT AREA, AND I THINK WE'RE GOING TO HAVE OTHER AREAS IN TOWN THAT ARE GOING TO BE GLARINGLY OBVIOUS THAT ARE IN NEED OF SOME TREATMENT AS WELL.
YOU KNOW, NOW THAT WE'VE LOST CITY MARKET, NOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A SORT OF A BLIGHTED AREA IN THERE, QUITE LIKELY FOR A WHILE. YOU KNOW, WE DO A LOT TO MAKE NEW DEVELOPMENT LOOK BETTER, BUT WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF EXISTING DEVELOPMENT THAT I DON'T THINK PRIVATE FUNDS ARE EVER GOING TO MAKE PRESENTABLE. SO I'D LIKE TO SEE I'D LIKE FOR STAFF TO EXPLORE AND SEE IF WE HAVE ANY OPTIONS, ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO CREATE A PROGRAM FOR THESE AREAS TO SEE IF WE CAN BRING THEM UP, JUST TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL APPEARANCE OF THE CITY AND ITS COMMERCIAL ZONES.
